Morrisons has unveiled its new Dubai Style Easter egg, but there's one feature that's causing a stir among foodies. Various businesses have jumped onto the Dubai chocolate craze bandwagon, rolling out a plethora of treats such as Dubai chocolate cake, strawberry cups, and the quintessential Dubai chocolate bar.
As Easter approaches, eager customers are snapping up Easter eggs, and Morrisons has thrown its hat in the ring with a distinct take on the traditional festive delight. According to the Morrisons website, this 420g creation is a milk chocolate egg bursting with pistachio and kataifi ganache.
Presented in a plastic case, the egg rests on a chocolate stand which has raised eyebrows among foodies, prompting concerns that the base might be fixed to the packaging with an inedible glue.
The Instagram account uknewestfoods uploaded a clip showcasing the confectionery. The voice in the video remarks: "New Dubai chocolate Easter egg from Morrisons has a huge problem.
"They seem to have used glue to attach the chocolate base of the egg to the package, which isn't something you can eat."

Yet, a representative for Morrisons put these worries to rest, clarifying that the so-called 'glue' is actually "sugar glucose" and is completely safe to consume.
Retailing at £12, the Dubai Style Chocolate Easter Egg by Morrisons isn't just eye-catching but also remarkably sturdy; the narrator from the uknewestfoods Instagram post said: "I had to cut it open with a bread knife because it is that thick.
"It's absolutely delicious if you're a Dubai chocolate fan and you like pistachio and you're into the Dubai chocolate craze that's going on at the moment, this is certainly the egg for you. It's got everything you could want.
"It's got kataifi, it's got pistachio, it's got chocolate, it's got ganache, it's got cream. It's so thick, but what concerns me is that it appears to be glued to the packaging."
Morrisons further fuelled the excitement by uploading a promotional video to their Instagram page a week ago, exclaiming: "Did someone say Dubai Easter Egg?...Pick up yours in store for £12 when you scan your More Card."
The clip has drawn in significant attention, amassing 155,000 views, 2,274 likes, and a flurry of nearly 100 comments. One individual remarked: "Morrisons in Bolton...this sold out yesterday within 1 hour of being on the shelf."
Easter egg fans didn't hold back their appreciation with declarations such as "obsessed", "this is a great idea", "got mine!" and "secured mine today." Edible glue can be made using sugar and glucose, either through heating sugar with a smidge of water and lemon juice or by blending CMC powder (Tylose) with water.
Contrary to what was suggested on uknewestfood's Instagram reel concerning the 'glue' used to fasten the chocolate base of the Morrisons Dubai Style Chocolate Easter Egg to the packaging, Morrisons has verified that the adhesive is indeed edible.
